Communicating With The Dead

We have been fascinated with death since we started living. Is there a place for the spirit after the body dies? Do ghosts watch us pick our wedgies? Did our loved one make it to the other side okay, and is Fido with them?

With all the questions we have about the after-life, it is no wonder that we are so interested in talking with the dead. Who knows the answers to these questions better than someone who has been through it?

  

SO YOU WANNA TALK TO THE DEAD?

The best other-wordly entities to speak to are ascended masters, spirit guides and angel types if you are seeking something with more substance. Earthbound spirits are the ghosts of those who have not passed. They may not know much more than you, and won't be very helpful. Ascended spirits, however, may be able to give you more insight and knowledge of the universe.

Please note it is not wise to piss off the spirits. You may think it is all in good fun to summon a spirit and drag them all the way from the afterlife to answer irrelevant questions for you and your friends at a party, but remember that they were people like you. Many spirits that come through will have a connection to you in some way, so it's not cool to bother your Gramps for no reason.

Not only is it rude and annoying, but spirits are not fortune tellers. They wont be able to tell you if you will in the lotto or who your soul mate is. There are spirits that may be looking to communicate with someone, and won't be interested in your selfish questions. Spirits may not inherit the all knowing knowledge of the universe, but may pick up some heightened insight and understanding through the spirits continued journey. This is valuable to your own struggles and growth.

Mediumistic

The most logical way to speak to the dead, would be directly. People who can receive messages from the other side are known as mediums. These message come in different forms.

• Telepathy - A medium can receive messages mentally by receiving visions (clairvoyance),  physical sensations (clairsentience), emotional feelings (clairsentinence), sounds (clairaudience), smells (clairalience), tastes (clairgustance), and the ability of "knowing" (claircognizance).

•  Automatic Writing - When a medium's hand is temporarily controlled by a spirit to write down a message. Sometimes the messages may come in different languages, and be in a different handwriting than the medium's. Sometimes sloppy, so the medium needs to practice. Modern day mediums even do automatic writing on a keyboard. 

• Psychometry - Is the ability to get impressions from physical objects that were once owned or used by the deceased. By reading energy imprints and connecting with them, it essentially sends out a beacon to the spirit, who can then connect with the medium and open communication.

• Trances - When the spirit temporarily takes over the mediums mind to use them as a translator for their message. While the medium is fully conscious, they may not full remember the information that was going through their head. Many trance mediums use an assistant to document the session.

• Dream State - In the dream scape, we don't question reality. Ever have a dream where you were riding a flying dinosaur through your old high school, yet it seemed so real? Our minds are open to receive any messages and images that pop in there, so it is a natural place for spirits to visit us. The deceased will usually have something important to say like a message, a warning to reassure you they are okay, or to comfort. Not all dreams starring the deceased are visitations. It takes a decent amount of energy to manifest in a dream. So most visitations don't happen too long after death unless they have good reason.

Spells

There are spells and rituals created with the intention of summoning a spirit. Many could be dangerous to the untrained and inexperienced. There are many demonic rituals out there, and you don't want to end up with one of those, or summon an unwanted spirit you can't get rid of. 

The type of spells I do recommend, are ones to increase your psychic ability or spiritual awareness. This will ultimately help you receive messages from other worldly beings. 

It also would not hurt to do a spell of protection, or one to ground yourself  before trying to contact the dead.

HAVE A CLEAR IDEA

Messages will be hard to receive if you don't know what you are looking for. Be specific with your questions, and make sure they are what you really want to know. Question your intentions and reasons for making contact. 

BUILDING POTENTIAL

Everyone has a mediumistic ability within them, but through years of society desensitizing us to our mental potential, it is much dimmer in some than others. To activate these abilities, all you need is some concentration, focus and awareness.

Meditation - Meditation is the best way to enhance your intuitive and psychic abilities. Meditation helps you build up focus and mental clarity. At first you will find it hard to sit still, or quiet your mind from all the random thoughts that will be popping in, but meditation is a practice that you must keep at to improve results. 

Meditation helps activate your chakras. There are hundreds of charkas in your body, but there are a major seven which align with the body's nervous system. Meditating to remove energy blockages within your body to clear your chakras, and meditation to awaken your 3rd Eye Chakra will help assist you in your journey to commune with the spirit world. 

DANGERS

As previously mentioned, it's not a good idea to bother spirits for entertainment. There are several other things to keep in mind as well.

Emotions - Do not attempt spirit communication when you (or anyone in your group) are depressed, upset or emotionally in a bad place. While it seems like a good time to seek guidance, negative frequencies will attract only spirits on that same frequency. Also avoid fear or anxiety while seeking to commune with the other side for the same reason. 

Energy - Do not try to communicate with spirits when you are tired, weak, or exhausted in any way. You may not be able to translate properly or receive messages clearly. It's like being at work on Monday morning. 

Toxic Influence - Being clean is the best way to be when looking to be more intuitive. At the very least, you MUST be sober while attempting to contact the dead. While under the influence, not only will you not be in your best state of mind, you may attract lower vibration spirits with deep addictions and issues.

SO YOU DON'T HAVE THE GLOW
If after a lot of patience and practice, you aren't having any luck, don't worry. It's cool. It is still possible to come in contact with earthbound spirits who have not passed over. Skills to do this are less metaphysical, and more technological.

If you can use ghost hunting techniques or equipment, you can come in contact with spirits in which to attempt a form of communication.
